At St. Francis Catholic Primary School, the provision of a well-organised and stimulating curriculum, catering for the needs of all, is of paramount importance.
The curriculum includes not only the statutory requirements of the National Curriculum and Foundation Phase, but also the range of extra-curricular activities organised by the school to enrich the experience of the children.
We ensure our lessons are interactive, exciting and motivating for the children by organising educational visits, practical activities, visits from outside agencies and involvement with the local community. The content of the curriculum is organised into half termly/termly units of work.
This exciting, cross-curricular curriculum promotes pupils’ development of key skills including the requirments of the Literacy and Numeracy Framework. Topics are brought to life by high quality teaching, inspirational learning activities and opportunities to listen and plan for the developing interests and motivations of children. The philosophy is to engage, develop, innovate and express.
Throughout our curriculum, we also promote pupils 'Gospel Values' and our caring school ethos.
We have high expectations of all our pupils, recognising differing skills and abilities so helping them to prepare for full and responsible lives.
