For the past three years we have appointed an attendance ambassador to help promote the importance of good attendance from a pupils’ perspective. Every week in assembly she shares the weekly attendance figures for the week before with the school. The class who had the best attendance get five minutes extra playtime. These figures are also shared with you in the weekly newsletter. We also tell you whether or not we have reached our target of 95%. Our attendance ambassador recently gave a presentation to parents at the parents’ information session where she asked for their help in improving attendance. She has written to Sally Holland, the Children’s Commissioner for Wales, about her role here in school. A recent questionnaire taken by pupils stated that they all thought it was a really important role and many aspire to replace her next year!
