Last Wednesday, pupils from St Francis School in Milford Haven were visited by Jagnath Gurung, a Gurkha who came to inform the school about how their money has assisted in the redevelopment of a Nepalese school.
Last April, citizens from Nepal were left traumatised by the worst earthquake in eighty years leaving homes and schools destroyed. By holding a cake sale and non-uniform day the pupils and staff pulled together to raise an impressive £500 to help support the collection fund. The money raised by the school was added to money donated to the public to raise a final total of £1666.42.
On the 11th January 2016, Jagnath handed over the money to the authorities to assist in the rebuilding of Amar Jyoti Higher Secondary School in Nuwakot. Jagnath commented that the ‘support and understanding shown by the students and staff helped to make an effective change towards a great cause.’
